The USS Bellerophon NCC-74705
Commanded by Captain Daniels.

Starfleet have sent the Bellerophon to the Lantaro Sector to observer the collapsing of a dwarf star.

Her new sensor array makes her the perfect ship for the mission.

The Bellerophon's View screen bursts into action
"This is Admiral Janeway, we wish you well on your mission, its not every captain who gets to see the collapse of a dwarf star, we hope you get lots of interesting readings Captain."

The transmission ends and the viewscreen snaps back to space.

Incomming message from Starfleet Command.

Ah Daniels, I forgot to mention, some sectors of the Lantaro sector cant be travelled through at warp, there is some damage to subspace in that region, I cant say why.
Although as a flagship officer you should have been briefed.

So it may take you a while travelling at impulse. However the location of the dwarf star isnt the far into the restricted areas.

Captain's log Stardat 201008.28 Time Index 14.50

The USS Bellerophon has just recieved its final clearance from Strafleet Command and are about to set off on our first mission: we are to head to the Lantaro Sector to witness the collapse of a dwarf type star, a rare event for a Starfleet Captain to witness. Thankfully thanks to the upgrades made on Voyager by Seven of Nine, our sensor aray has been tremedously upgraded as well as the new astrometrics lad that was added in. And who better to run it than Seven's protégé Icheb. Now as any Starfleet officer should know there are a great many subspace disturbances in the Lantaro Sector however the cause is still unknown, this will drastically increase out travel time since we will be forced to go to impulse upon reaching the sector, but we are lucky that we will not have long to travel in the sector . However untill we reach our destination I think its only fair to stretch our legs. -

After several days at high warp the Bellerophon & crew arrive in the Lantaro sector.

Captain Daniels orders half impulse at the helm.
And asks his science officer to begin scans of the region.

The dwarf star system isnt far ahead.
But because of an accident involving a single Omega molecule several years ago, prevents ships from using warp drive in the region.

The crew are busy about their tasks when the tactical officer informs the captain a vessle is approaching.

At that moment the chief engineer also contacts the bridge.
Apparently there is some kind of dampening field surrounding the ship neutralising all main power.

As the ship plunges into virtual darkness, Captain Daniels bolts out of his chair and rushes over to tactical....."Report!" he yells.

"A vessle is approaching sir but I dont believe they are responsible for the dampening field" replies the tactical officer.
Just as Daniels was going to say hail them, the science officer yells "they're hailing us and asking for you by name Sir!"

"Well that saved me a job..... by name huh, well lets see what they want... on screen" orders Daniels with a puzzled look.

As the screen snaps into action suddenly all systems are back to full power.

"No Damage Sir! All systems back to normal" says the science officer

Daniels replies "must be the effects of the region, continue scans and work with engineering incase Im wrong"
Daniels faces the view screen and there before his eyes a familiar, yet unfamiliar face.

On the view screen was Admiral Janeway, the reason she didnt look familiar at first was because of the damaged systems de-focusing the visual.

"Ah Admiral sorry for a moment I wondered who the frell, if you pardon my saying so" says Captain Daniels.

"Not to worry Daniels, how are things, have you completed your mission" asks Admiral Janeway

"To be honest Admiral we just arrived and are suffering a few problems, infact your lucky to contact us a few moments ago we lost all systems, Im not sure if it was a dampening field, a ship or just the region causing it" replied Daniels

"Chances are its just the region, Omega destroyes subspace which is why travelling at low speeds but it have secondary effects on systems too, though ships recover fast its only momentary" explains Janeway continuing to say "I would keep my eye out though there are bandits in that area, low speeds make for good trade, especially among the Ferengi, the region practically levels the playing grounds for all ships if you catch my drift, well all except our new upgraded ships designed with such things in mind"

"Admiral not that I dont appreciate the chatter but if theres something you wanted, only Im quite busy" snaps Daniels still a little frustrated at the situation, he doesnt like his ship being affected, he hates surprises even ones he knows about.

"Actually there is something" says Janeway ruffling and re-straightening her uniform shrugging off the slight rudeness.
"I want you to report back to HQ, I dont want to say why over subspace I will explain when you get here Janeway Out!"

And with that the viewscreen snaps back to open space leaving Daniels a little shocked and also a little worried, had he upset the Admiral, why was he being recalled during a mission that had barely even started.

I can't believe the Admiral is ordering us back home so soon into our first mission, perhaps I was in error when I assumed that I was one of the few in Starfleet who could read and sometimes be less than polite to Admiral Janeway...well there is not much I can do about that untill we arrive...

Turning to my Tatical Officer I order a complete scan of the approaching vessel just to be sure of the Admiral's words, I will not allow my ship to be damaged in such a way again.

Turning to my trusted Science Officer I order her to run a complete scan of the surrounding space.
"T'Pol I cannot allow us to leave the area so soon and return to the Admiral empty handed so I want you to run a full analysis of the system we're in, including the dwarf star."

"I will start the scans immediately Captain however I must inform you that we are not going to be able to stay here for to long."

"I know this T'Pol that is why I want to run a scan for anything unusual, that may have happened here. Omega is a vastly complex and strange particle, all we know of is its immediate after effects, but it is possible Omega can do more than we previously thought."

"Understood Captain" and with that T'Pol returned to her station.

Turning back to my Tatical Officer, "I suggest we take the Admiral's advice and keep aa eye out for pirates or others who would take advantage of our condition."

"Aye sir!"

"What is out current status?"

"Shields are down to 75%, Pahsers and Torpedos are online."

Good, I think to myself we can defend ourselves if need be.

"Daniels to Engineering, report!"

"The dampening field effect seems to have dissipated, we're running a complete diagnostic, but I'm optimistic to report that once were clear of the sector warp drive will be online, however I suggest we only go to warp 7 to be on the safe side."

"Understood, keep me informed, Daniels out"

"Astrometrics to the Bridge."

Ahh perhaps Icheb has some good news for me I think to myself... "Go ahead Icheb."

"I have the data from the dwarf star we were to investigate, it is not yet prepared to collapse yet, however I am detecting some unusual readings around the star. I'm not certain what it is however I believe it has a connection to the dampening field we encountred, I have dected a slightly elevated increase in reading from when we first arrived."

"Puzzling indeed, thank you Icheb, and keep me informed. Daniels out!"

A few hours have passed since we received our recall order and the crew has finished its scan, so though we may not witness our first mission to completion we are not leaving empty handed

"Helmsman set a course back home, engage impulse at half until we have cleared the sector than jump to Warp 7...engage!"

After a week the Bellerophon and crew arrive at Earth as ordered.

"Captain Daniels we have arrived home sir!" Said the helmsman.

"Good. Now let's find out why the frell we were recalled from our mission so shortly. Ensign open a channel to Starfleet Command!"

The operations officer quickly responded: "Channel open sir!"

"This is Captian Daniels aborad the USS Bellerophon responding to our recall orders."

"Ah Captain, glad to see you've arrived safely," said the Lt. in charge of communications at HQ.

"Is Admiral Janeway available? I need to speak to her," I say getting annoyed since I still didn't have a clue as to why I was here.

"I'm not at bay to disclose this information over subspace, it would be best if you came here."

"Very well!" And with a slight nod to the Ensign the viewscreen snapped back to Earth ending the communication.

Five minutes later Daniels is walking onto the transporter pad and nods to the officer there to energize. In the next moment Daniels is standing in the middle of HQ and next to him the Lt. who would not disclose his reason for being here. Irritated at the constant lack of information yet still politely "Where is Admiral Janeway and why have we been recalled?" Slowly the Lt. and Daniels begin to walk to the Admirals office.

"Yes I'm sorry but it had to be done this was, though I'm not even completely sure of what's going on, I'm only told enough for my job. The Admiral has gone on an away mission by herself, were not quite sure of the details however we were given express orders before her departure. The Admiral," as they just come to a stop in the Admirals spectacular briefing room, "has ordered you to be incharge of Starfleet Command untill her return where you will be briefed on your recall orders."

Daniels is quite flabergasted at this, and yet humbled and honoured that Janeway would trust this to him. "Wow I'm shocked, pleasantly to be sure, but still. Is there any word on when she will return?"

"No, not yet, she assumed about two weeks, yet things may or may not go as planned."

"Than I assu,e the Bellerophon is not going to be heading out anytime soon? I shall have the crew get in a lil shore leave while the boys at Jupiter Station give her the once over."

"If that is your command than it will be done," replied the Lt.

"Very well let us do that and you can brief me on all the latest info and bring me up to speed on all the Admiral's doings here so I can begin filling in."

As Captain Daniels sits in the chair at Admiral Janeway's desk, the computer view screen springs into action.
Its a pre-recorded message from the Admiral herself.

"Ah Captain Daniels so nice to see you"
Daniels was about to respond when he realised it was a recording and not live...the message continues.

"I hope you're settling in well, I wasnt sure when you would be arriving which is why I have recorded this message and had the Lt meet you upon arrival.
Sorry to have to load you with all this but I've been called on an important mission, my eyes only and need someone I trust to run the fleet in my absence. Im sure you'll do well, have the Lt bring you upto speed and anything you need just ask him, he is your personal PA.

Now as for why I recalled you that will have to wait for my return, Id wish you good luck but I know you dont need it, I'm sure you'll do an excellent job.
Janeway Out!"

With that the viewscreen snaps back the the HQ logo.

Having jumped back to normal space and having received the automated message from Admiral Janeway Daniels was just about to order a landing sequance be initiated when the viewscreen snaps into action.
Incoming message from Jupiter Station, with some assistance from some of the crew aboard the Starbase 157 Alpha. Ãdmiral! We have finished all preperations to the Bellerophon's engine systems. She is prepared for Slipstream travel, we just await your return to iron out any pssible kinks in the system though we are sure thee are none.
"Ah wonderful! I can't wait to get back and inspect it. I will be back shortly."
"Understood!" And with that the viewscreen snapped back to the Telaxian colony
