A few hours after being in Cardassian space, the Admiral's shuttle arrives back at HQ, she calls for a medical team to meat her in her office.

The medics soon arrive and take Kat to Starfleet Medical.
"I'll be there soon Kat I have to brief the Defiants commander, and catch up on a little work, dont worry they'll take care of you"

"She's just a little woosy Admiral dont worry" said one of the medics as she carried Kat out the door.

Katty was too weak to protest. She slumped in the medic's arms. She hated Sickbay and Starfleet Medical as a result of her rough beginning having been born at 34 weeks gestation. The medics knew of her medical history and as a result knew how to calm her down if she got upset or overwhelmed and started panting.

After a while she came around fully and was upset that Mommy wasn't there. She began to pant heavily, upset. One of the female medics immediately had her in her arms, hushing and coaxing her to breathe and slow down.

"Shhh, shhh....breathe, Kat....Nice and slow. Slow deep breaths.... Shhhh, you're all right." She murmured in the young girl's ear. "Your Mommy will be back soon, okay? You're safe here."

She knew how the girl had the panting issue when she was first born as a result of not quite getting the suck-swallow-breathe routine and tiring herself out as well as panting when she got upset or overwhelmed. Because of the lung issues, Kat still had the one instance when she got overwhelmed.

Her breathing began to calm. She knew that Admiral Janeway was a very busy woman, and did not want to be a burden to her.

Admiral Janeway has just finished speaking to the Captain of the Defiant now closing in on the Sovereign & Prometheus.

She is now on her way to Starfleet Medical, where several nurses and her trusted friend The EMH are taking care of Kat.

The doors of the medical bay sweep open and Kat looks over, jumps up and shouts "Mommy Im glad to see you"

"Well you seem to be ok now, have they been taking care of you?" says the admiral to Kat and winking at the EMH

"She's been quite the little lady, and a pleasant one at that" comments the doctor as he ruffles Kats hair.

Kat shakes her head and says thankyou to the doctor and nurses.

"Shall we go home and have dinner" asks Admiral Janeway

Kat jumps and runs for the door....
"I'll take that as a yes" laughs the Admiral and follows Kat out the door.
Just as the Admiral reaches the door the EMH shouts "DONT FORGET ABOUT OUR LITTLE MEETING TOMORROW ADMIRAL 0800!!!"

The Admiral mutters, "17 years as my doctor and he thinks Im deaf...." "I WONT...CARRY ON DOCTOR!" SHE SHOUTS BACK

The doctor mutters "And she thinks hologramms cant hear better than humans" he giggles then picks up a data pad walking over to a patient
"Now Ensign what appears to be the problem"

The medical doors sweep closed again leaving them to work.

Kat was feeling a lot better after being treated by the EMH. She'd jumped up because she could not wait to get out of Starfleet Medical. When the Admiral mentioned 'dinner', her ears virtually perked up. She was getting hungry. But she didn't know what to have for dinner. She thanked the Doctor and grinned at the little shouting match on their way out the door.

Later at home The Admiral & Kat were deciding what to have for dinner.

The Admiral suggests her grandmothers favorite Vegetable Biryani.

Kat laughs and runs to the replicator.
"Computer 2 servings of Vegetable Biryani" says Kat giggling.

The replicator was programmed with 2 variations of this dish.
Kat likes the dish quite spicy but The Admiral doesnt have the same high taste for HOT spices, just lightly spiced is the Admirals choice.

So sat eating dinner, Kat shovelling away at hers.
The Admiral is just about to ask Kat about her tennis lessons, but as she is, she puts a spoonful of food in her mouth and begins to cough and choke.

"Oh my WOOOOH, thats a little more spicy than I was imagingin, did you mix them up again Kat?" asks the Admiral

Kat is in histerics laughing, she laughs so much she falls of her stool and is now rolling on the floor.

"I think so." Kat said, wiping tears from her eyes. "But that was funny." She grinned, having been in hysterics only a moment ago from the Admiral's reaction to the dish.

"Tennis is okay and I am good at it. But I am better at the violin." Katty told Mommy. "When I play 'For my Fallen Angel' by the 21st century group My Dying Bride, I have the violin segments removed. The same with the theme to Requiem for A Dream."

"Excellent, I've heard good reports from your music teacher.... oh speaking of which I have some bad news, tomorrows lessons have been cancelled, the teacher is ill and there is no one to replace her" says Admiral Janeway

Kat is now looking sad

"Dont worry, Data has agreed to come visit with Mr Barkley and Dianna, they said they would help you with your music, I think they also have a surprize trip planned, but shh I didnt tell you that part" she smiles "Oh and no using powers be good you know Reg Barkley gets nervous when you vanish"

Kat chuckles and says "I will be good Mommy I promise" Kat had her fingers crossed behind her back.
Admiral Janeway knew what Kat was llike when she was hyper and giddy so she gave a stern look at Kat and Kat said

"Ok fine I promise"

"Good now almost time for bed, I have alot of work to do before I meet The EMH tomorrow, What Joy, no doubt he'll want to bend my ear about something trivial again"

Kat giggles because she knows how much the doctor can sometimes frustrate her mother.

"Oh did you speak to your father, you never told me about your vision quest?!"

"No.... I was just in a meditative state." Kat replied. She knew Reg Barclay would be coming tomorrow for her lesson. "I was levitating off the floor at one point." Reg was very skittish about many things beside her magickal abilities. He just seemed to be a very timid person. She knew Mommy hated Sickbay and hated to have her annual physical whenever the time came for her to do so.

Admiral Janeway looks at the date.
"Oh my, I hope the doctor isnt plannign any physicals" she shrugs
"Come to think of it I cant think of any pressing matters that require my urgent attention, and nothing has been circulated through normal channels, hmmm 8 am, ohhh he is crafty... I might just have to accidentally forget to arrive, I am Admiral he'll think I was busy"

"Mommy you cant do that" says Kat

"Sorry Katy I was talking out loud ofcourse I'll go, its probably something and nothing"

The Admiral had no intentions of turning up to the doctor.

Kat knew what her mother was planning.
"Mommy, I know you... I know you try to avoid physicals. I don't like Sickbay either, but I still go." She told her. "You know I have a good reason for hating Sickbay, but that was because of my premature birth."

"I know" says the Admiral wiping a tear away, hoping Kat hadnt noticed.

The Admiral partly blames her self for the birth situation.

"Its just the doctor oh my he can go on and on about nothing, and well Id rather keep busy, sure I enjoy the docs company now and then but I hate being confined, makes me nervous"

The Admiral picks up a pad and begins to work, slowly sipping her coffee that Kat had kindly braught to her.

"I know that physicals make you nervous." Said Kat. "You are not to blame for me being born early. It was a fluke." She had noticed Admiral Janeway hastily wiping a tear away from her eye and was alarmed. She didn't like if her mother was upset. "Don't be sad, Mommy...please." She said as she hugged the Admiral close.

The following day Admiral Janeway was walking toward her office when a transporter beam stops her in her tracks.
Suddenly she finds her self at Starfleet medical.

"I guess Im not getting out of this one then huh doctor" she grins at the EMH

"I tried Admiral & no your not, although there is something I did wish to speak to you about anyway. But lets take a look at you first, have a seat" he says patting the nearest bio-bed.

After almost an hour of boring rigerous tests the doctor finally says "You're in perfect health as always"

The Admiral mutters to her self "I could have told you that" speaking a little louder she looks at the doctor, who is now raising an eyebrow "thanks to your exemplary care over the years"

They both laugh and then the admiral asks "so whats so pressing you need to talk to me about, and trick me into my physical?"

"Its about my mobile emitter" the doctor pauses.
"Go On!" says Janeway puzzled, thinking he was about to complain as usual.

"Well as you know we've been studying the technology, then it occured to me to check out your vessle" replies the doctor

"And?" says Janeway now wondering what the doctor has been doing without her knowing

"We descovered a similar technology in the database, and its eaasily re-creatable, soon all ships can have an EMH who can freely walk around & enjoy the same freedoms as I do"

"But most crews have real life medical officers" quickly correcting her self she says "what I mean is flesh and blood"

"Admiral stop diggin I knew perfectly what you meant, we're beyond that now, Im as real as any of you" smiles the EMH

"Ofcourse you are doctor carry on" grins Janeway

"Well we've already began replicating some of these devices, infact my entire staff today are actually holographic versions of the staff normally on duty" he laughs

"You mean to tell me everyone here is a hologramm?" she asks

"Not everyone just my immediate staff, but as you can see it works"

"I did notice a slight glitch with that nurse over there" says the Admiral pointing " but I thought it was my eyes playing tricks, you were waving a tri-corder in my face at the time"

"Well its not without its hicups, I didnt exactly have alot of time to get ready" replies the doctor.

"I believe we can start mass producing these quite soon" says the EMH

"Well doctor far be it for me to stop any technological breakthroughs, but you know this could turn into something ugly if not done properly with proper precautions, imagine what could happen if this gets into the wrong hands, or even if an officer feels like being lazy and sends in his double, this is why we're still investigating and releasing a steady stream, not all at once" says the Admiral rather quietly in the doctors ear.

"Id hardly call it all at once Admiral, plus we are taking precautions, we're restricting certain abilities and programming them with specific characters and duties, as a field test, the first step is medical staff, someone who can care for crews injured without needing to rest them selves, I know how that feels" replies the doctor "dont worry one step at a time, and under your permission & control" he adds

"Ok doctor its your project but keep me posted, I want daily detailed reports" she agrees "Oh no Im late! Doctor..."

"You're free to go Admiral" he claims before she could finish her sentance.

With that he beams her back to her office. Just in time to, as she sits at her desk, the Diplomats arrive.

While her mother was at Starfleet Headquaerters meeting with the Diplomats, Kat was busy with her classes and studying. She pored over her textbooks and PADDs and after studying and attending her classes, she remembered that Reginald Barclay was coming with Deanna Troi for her music lesson as her music teacher was sick.

She got her Stradivarius violin polished and ready for the lesson. Soon the doorchime beeped. She answered the door and Reg and Deanna entered.

Kat opens the door and Dianna walks straight in.
Reg is hiding behind the door peering round.

"Is she there" asks Reg
"Relax reg ofcourse she is stop being silly" replies Dianna

Kat chuckles "I'm here Reg" she says appearing behind him pushing him in the door.

Reg jumps and both Dianna and Kat laugh hysterically

"Thats enough Kat" says Dianna
"Sorry but I had to, its better to get it over with" laughs Kat

Sitting down Dianna asks "So what are we studying today Kat?"

Dianna goes over to the replicator "I bet it would go better with some chocolate ice cream" she says smiling

Kat jumps up, almost knocking Reg down as he is sitting beside her
"YAY I knew there was a reason I loved you Dianna" running over grabbing her bowl.

Dianna laughs "Reg would you like some too?"
Reg is a big kid inside too and he runs over almost as fast as Kat, then realises and pretends to be normal and eats his ice cream with his pinky finger out holding the spoon.

Everyone laughs and returns to the music area of the dining room.
