The Andromeda Ascendent

Released ahead of schedule on a rescue mission of B´Elanna Torres.
Safely returned to Starbase 157 Alpha.
Now on a private exploration with Admiral Janeway attemtping to charter new deeper regions of previously unexplored space.

Last known Admiral Janeway contacted HQ, all starfleet and alliance ships conveying best wishes for the festive seasons.
Also Rommy reported her whereabouts and current dangers.
They were investigating the Tsunkara Nebula all is well..... so far.

While The Andromeda Ascendant is truly a mighty vessel and infact was released ahead of sechudle there has been some concern from Captain Barkley that the AI, Rommy could infact be unaware of possible glitches in many key systems, yet we all know that He is a worry wort, should this message reach the Admiral through the subspace distortions caused by the Slipstream Drive it would be well in her interest to runa complete systems scan

To the admirals knowledge B´Elanna Torres claims to have gotten The Andromeda shipshape during her rescue, though the ship and her avatar self are still relatively new.

While exploring previously unchartered space anything can happen if all systems havent been checked properly.

Although B´Elanna had fixed certain engine problems, the Admiral had forgotte Rommy´s original rude awakenings at the starbase and the avatar´s foul mood hasnt been completely erazed. This currently not know to the admiral who simply thinks its Rommy being Rommy.

The radioactive residue on The Andromeda´s hull during her exploration of the Tsunkara nebula has effected several systems that Rommy has failed to report, not by accident but on purpose, all readings as far as the admiral is concerned show optimal, but the admiral being who she is, has a feeling she cant shake and decides to confront Rommy.

Is the admiral being paranoid, is Rommy fine, has the region effected her somehow and changed her, or is it all just a bad gut feeling, one way or other she was about to find out.

At that very moment the admiral was pondering her thoughts,
the ship shakes violently, the viewscreen and all ships systems go down.

Sparks are flying everywhere and fires start.

"Bridge to Andromeda!" screams Janeway but there is no response
"Rommy REPORT!" Admiral shouts louder.

The holographic version of Andromeda appears on the previously non working viewscreen but the transmissio is scrambled, the AI is trying to say something as the viewscreen again goes offline

Rommy.... the admiral thinks to her self.
"Okay lets try this one more time...ANDROMEDA ROMMY RESPOND THATS AN ORDER! what the hell is going on? REPORT!"

A faint innocent voice of the Avatar Rommy comes through the comms and responds "Nothing Admiral all systems fucntioning normally, if that is all"

"No that is not all and it doesnt look like anything normal from here.." the ship shakes throwing the admiral from the bridge chair into the helm "The bridge is on fire, fire surpressants are out, all systems are offline, the AI is on the frits and Im being throw around the bridge like a ragdoll, now WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!" Screams Admiral Janeway climbing to her feet using the helm station for support, as she is again thrown to the floor.

The Admiral notices the gravity on the bridge is 3 times normal and its becomming increasingly difficult to move.

"NOTHING IS WRONG ROMMY OUT!" Replies rommy very stern and now agitated

The Admiral now knows something is very wrong, and her suspicions are confirmed when the AI appears onscreen, barely able to communicate.

"Admiral, Radiation, Dangerous, Rommy effected, leave nebula, I... I cant, loosing system contr.................."
The viewscreen returns to a snowy crackle then winks out to total darkness as does the entire bridge.

Well, the admiral thinks to her self, I was right for the wrong reasons, Rommy has been effected but atleast its not the same as before, the nebula radiation must have caused this in her systems.
I need to shut her down adn regain control somehow and get home.

The admiral manages to get to her feet and into the corridor outside the bridge, gravity there is normal and is much easier to move.
Janeway makes her way to engineering but as she enters to room she is greeted with Rommy´s arm knocking the admiral clean to the floor.

"This is my ship GO AWAY! THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU NOW LEAVE!"

"Rommy something has happened to the ship I need to shut you down adn repair your systems so we can leave and head home for repairs, our exploration will have to wait" as the Admiral stands to explain this Rommy again knocks the Admiral Down

"No, you cant, you wont, I wont allow it....LEAVE"!

Engineerings gravity is now increased 10 fold and the admiral is pinned to the deck, she can feel the pressure crushing her body.

"Rommy let me help please, your not well, radiation has damaged you, though I didnt think it possible you told me everything was fine, I guess we did leave before we checked properly....tell me has any of this got anything to do with what happened at the starbase?"

Rommy looks puzzled for a moment at the admiral as if she doesnt remember, she only remembers her early launch rescue mission of B´Elanna, but just then her face turns even more evil as she re-accesses the files of her first awakening.

"Im going to KILL YOU, GET OFF MY SHIP!!!"

Air begins venting from all decks, life support is turned to a minimal, now the admiral is facing 2 problems, the problems of the nebula and Rommy´s memory

As the air is getting thinner, the admiral attempts to send a message back to HQ, she may need their help.

"Rommy dont force me to use my abilities, you know I dont like to, but we need to resolve this crisis, for the good of both of us" shouts Janeway

Using her abilities to a minor degree the Admiral manages to adapt herself to the gravity situation, it no longer effects her and she is able to stand.
Rommy realising this acts fast, she grabs the admiral and sends a high level EM discharge shock through her head rendering the admiral unconscious.
All she can hope now is that Rommy didnt notice the transmission, or the AI managed to hide it, and it has reached starfleet.

Signal received here at the Lupis base.

Xanxa mobilises her personnel. She leads the Palandine, with herself and Londo Mollari on board. Urza Jaddo from the Tok'ra is following in the Paragon. Both ships form jump points and enter hyperspace, travelling rapidly to the last known position of the Andromeda Ascendant.

Xanxa tried to contact the Andromeda Ascendant but their communications were being blocked. She then tried an interior scan of the ship but this was also blocked.

It's looking very much as though the ship has been taken over by hostiles and the AI reprogrammed. It will need a team of Technomage engineers to handle this. Xanxa put out the necessary call and waited for a reply.

Aboard the Andromeda, Rommy is fighting to keep control.
She has noticed the fleets arrival and has blocked all scans and gone into stealth mode.

She assures the admiral that they wont succeed and no-one will gain control over The Andromeda for she is Andromeda and all is fine.

Rommy confused and daized still retains control over the andromeda.

A brief message from uhurah aboard voyager comes through.

The Admiral hears the conversation but remains motionless, barely concious.

She can only hope that while Andromeda is fighting herself that some how it creates a chance for rescue or attack.

After Kestra settling in aboard the starbase, and having a decent nights sleep aboard the Andromeda.

I have assigned my niece as ships councillor, rank Lt.

She is now preparing her office oh and feeding a rather hungry baby.

While sat in my quarters on the Andomeda, thinking about my conversation with my darling Kat, I had a sudden OMG thought & immediately tap my comm-badge.

"Janeway to Admiral Daniels Adama, something has just occured to me, we might have to get back aboard the Talaxia sonner than planned, or perhaps not, well what Im trying to say is did you leave my shuttle uncloaked or cloaked in the shuttle bay, Mr Neelix was rather interested in it the first time round I should hate to think he´s been tinkering and tampering with it during our absence, you know he cant resist snooping. Anyway sorry to disturb you get back to me when you can. Janeway Out!"

I start pacing up and down the floor of my dining area, totally forgetting about lunch. Then as I realise Im alone, a thought pops into my head, its Kat talking to me, with all the stress lately I´d forgotten it was possible, much less her suggestion. "mommy why dont you see for your self and if it has been left uncloaked, cloak it your self, I can help if you need me to"

I reply in my mind "thankyou Kat hunny great idea"
I check and see that the shuttle is unharmed and cloaked, Mr Neelix doesnt even know its there.

Tapping my comm-badge again at the same time as trying to reach Kat with my mind I say "thankyou Kat...ahem I mean Admiral false alarm ignore my previous comms" I hear Kat giggle in my mind as she runs in the door asking whats for dinner and if we can go to the holodeck with Rommy.

I must admit Im shocked she wants Rommy to accompany us, I guess she is getting used to her being around and trusts her more now. I wonder what they have been talking about together while I havent been around.

I was sat in my quarters onboard The Andromeda & had just finished reading a secret communication from Xanxa.
As I was listening to some music from 21st century earth, but started to sing along, changing some words.

"You can bagel the world, but nothing comes close to my jam on toast"

As I sang this line I heard a noise from the replicator, and the computer respond "food ready"

I turn round to the replicator and in an almost Dr Smith style I respond.

"You infernal babbling piece of tin can technology, who asked you to replicate this, I certainly didnt ask for it, I was singing you fool"

The computer responded "But I thought...."
Before the computer could finish I respond "you thought nothing you tin can of a machine, I said it about Voyager once dont make me say it about you too"

"Say what exactly Admiral?" asked the computer.
"That you are a glorified toaster" I shout.

Just then Rommy walks in the door, and as she is speaking I suddenly realise where I am.

"Its nice to know thats how you truely think of me Admiral, and it was only the other day you were consoling me telling me how human I was"

Rommy swiftly turns and running out the door into the corridor.

I shout after her "Rommy Im sorry, I dont think that at all, I´ve just had a hard day thats all, forgive me, you are family to me"

The holo version of the ship´s AI appears miniture on the dining table "I´ll think about it"

With that the holo image vanishes and all the lights go out in my quarters.

Only for a moment or two, enough to make me panick that I had really hurt Rommy´s feeling.

All the lights come back on and A voice becons "I love you too Admiral"

It was a wind up all along, she knew how stressed I was and was trying to snap me out of it by playing a joke.

As Rommy walked back to the bridge of The Andromeda, me still in my quarters. The red alert sirens sound nd the ship shakes violently.

"Ok Rommy thats enough, I got the joke, Im fine now, I didnt mean to upset you" I shout at the comms.

"Admiral that wasnt me, this is real" replies Rommy.

"Explain!" I say

"The starbase has just gone to red alert, patching through computer audio now" she replies

"Warning Borg vessel detected, Multi vector assault mode iniciated, Starbase seperation in 30 seconds" yells the computer as its own red alert and other sirens sound.

"Andromeda this better not be another joke" I yell

"No joke admiral" shouts Rommy as the ship shakes again.
"Not a malfunction either" I ask hoping.
"Here see for your self, you better get up here" shouts Rommy now getting frustrated.

"Auto seperation in 20 seconds" calls the computer

"Im on my way to the bridge, disembark from the starbase and lay in a course for the Borg vessel and open a channel to all vessels and the starbase"

"Aknowledge, course laid in channel open" replies Rommy

As I enter the bridge Rommy puts the Borg ship on the view screen, its a Borg Sphere. "Its about time!" she yells but smiling, frantically tapping at the helm and readying weapons.

"This is Admiral Janeway to all vessels, go to red alert and stand by to assist, this is not a drill I repeat this is not a drill, all vessels prepare for duty"

Turning to Rommy I say "Well I knew it was too good to be true, there had to be some left over, I couldnt have expected that destroying them in my past didnt mean they dont exist here, hopefully we can end this before it starts" as I walk to my chair bringing up the sensor data.

The starbase has now seperated and is heading to the Sphere in an attempt to surround it. It is sending out the signal pre designed to release drones and make them individuals.

"I hope this works...STATUS!"

"The vessel is being very erratic, from what I can tell the signal has reached the Sphere and managed to convert almost 50% of the drones, however..." Rommy says

"This is the part Im not going to like... go on" I interupt

"The sphere is rotating shield harmonics and dampening the signal, we may have to fight this one, before I lost sensor data inside the sphere, I noticed the individuals were trying to assist, but Im guessing it wont be long before the remaining Borg regain full control" shouts Rommy as the Sphere fires on us.

"Thats what I didnt want to hear" I reply
Shouting at the comms "All vessels, intercept the Borg Sphere, try to disable her, do not destroy her unless I order or absolutely necissary, Janeway Out!"

The starbase has several perameters preprogrammed for such an event. If unsuccessful the borg vessel will be destroyed.
Noticing the change in shield harmonics, the seperated sections of the starbase are now forming in a sphere pattern and creating a lattice of beams within them.

"Janeway to the fleet, try to drive the Sphere into that lattice field, do not destroy it yet, I´d like to try and save as many of those drones as possible, the starbase is re-analyzing and adapting to try boost the signal"

Rommy notices a weakness in the Spheres shields, the now ex-drones are working frantically to give us any advantage they can. Luckily the remaining borg are too busy to reassimilate them just yet. It causing the spheres course to change erratically and rapidly, giving the fleet and starbase a window of opportunity.

Rommy shouts "Admiral should I beam out the survivors?"
"No not yet...they might be able to keep the borg busy long enough for us to help them all, try to keep a lock on them though" I hesitantly reply
Thinking to my self, I really want to get them out now, but they´re giving us an advantage we need. But I may have to get them out quickly should the vessel be destroyed, atleast then we can save some rather than none. But I´d like to save all of them and the vessel if possible
